MakeIt Zone

artisan workshops – low cost, low carbon

A sense of place

Balsall Heath, Moseley and Kings Heath… three knots on a string.

Lying to the south of Birmingham along the A435, each of these three adjoining areas has its own distinctive character. Balsall Heath was once home to light industry, and The Old Print Works there is the place we have chosen to house our 21st century revival of local craftsmanship. It’s located in the civic heart of Balsall Heath, opposite the Baths (one of the best examples of Edwardian architecture), next to The Old Art School, close to the Methodist church and an Islamic centre. Moseley Road runs parallel to Ladypool Road, famous for its Balti restaurants and other Asian businesses. Balsall Heath is a meeting point for the many cultures of Birmingham, one of the most diverse cities in the world.

Moseley has a thriving farmer’s market and craft market, specialist shops, a medieval church, and is home to many artists. Kings Heath has the area’s main shopping centre. Both areas represent large potential markets for makers at Moseley Road Studios, and their route to the city passes our doorstep.

The new place for workers in the Make-It Zone will be comfortable, community-spirited and a vibrant hub. Why not help to make it happen? Contact us to discuss your business proposal.
