Workshop spaces with a window on the world

You can rent a workshop at a very reasonable cost at the Old Print Works and have a shopfront to the world. Only 2 miles from the city centre on the A435, one of Birmingham’s best bus routes, it’s a choice location.

Low cost, low carbon

By sharing resources in an energy-efficient building, you will have space to work, and a showcase for the public. People are increasingly drawn to businesses with a low carbon footprint – you will be a pioneer in the emerging green economy. Government regulations will gradually close in on the high-energy dinosaurs of the past.

Collaboration

Businesses these days don’t thrive in isolation, or with high overheads. Shared resources will be available, such as a van, an e-commerce website to help sell your goods, exhibition space, and a reception area on an attractive courtyard. You could even help to manage the centre (one day a month).  In 2010, we’re looking for pioneers – we offer incentives – to make this vision a reality.

Activities for the public

The Make-it Zone will feature a print museum, a local craft gallery, and a learning zone for children. It’s opposite the iconic Edwardian Moseley Road Baths and Library, with many shops and eateries nearby to bring passing trade.

We need innovators

Are you a printer, potter, woodturner, carver, shoemaker, dyer, glass blower, joiner, jeweller, tailor, artisan, engraver, bookbinder, paper maker, mechanic, candle maker, cycle builder, blacksmith, weaver, metal or textile worker…? Can you bring traditional skills into the 21st century?

We’re looking for tenants who can make beautiful, useful and durable objects to challenge the idea that economic growth should be built on the mass production of throwaway goods. We want to rebuild the connection between maker and customer, and we’re looking to do this in a realistic, contemporary setting.
